sfgate.com : Oakland: A Plague of Killing

December 22, 2006 – Two short films by CYMC have been included in the San Francisco Chronicle’s website as part of “Oakland’s Plague of Killing,” a multimedia presentation reflecting on Oakland’s record-breaking year of street violence and homicides. Featured on sfgate.com is CYMC youth filmmaker Elliott McGregor’s “The Real State of Emergency,” accompanied by recently-completed “RIP Oakland,” a short film produced special to the Chronicle sharing the memories of young people that we have lost to the violence.

Catch a podcast here of SF Chronicle’s interview with Elliott while he reflects on his experiences as a young CYMC filmmaker sharing the voices of East Oakland youth.

CYMC wishes to thank Marcus Chan, Justin Beck, and the SFGate for their dedication to the people of Oakland in their struggle to overcome the violence in their community.
