CYMC GOES TO NYC!!!! Voices of SF YOUTH hit Manhattan theatres.
This November, Conscious Youth Media Crew Youth Filmmakersl traveled
to New York City to represent their short films at the Hip Hop Odyssey
International Film Festival Freshest Youth Program (H2OIFF). Seven
CYMC films were selected to run during one straight week with other
youth films from across the nation at the Bronx Museum of Arts for
high school students and after school program participants from
around the city. The final awards ceremony took place that weekend
with a program celebrating the culture and contributions of hip-hop

CYMC youth not only participated in the Film Festival but also visited
other high school students at a Bronx High School, toured NYU Film
School, VH1 offices, and other city attractions. They also enjoyed
an evening out for pizza and Broadway to see the musical STOMP,
hosted by Bruce and Samantha Fogel--THANK YOU!!!
Thank you to Carol and Shelby Bonnie for their generous donation
towards airfare for CYMC youth!!!! Thanks to Eunice Nuval and the
support of Downtown High School staff for making this special trip
possible! Thank you to Ben Selkow for hanging with the youth at
the festival. Thanks to Stephen Mintz from VH1! for the tour and
visit to his post production suite. Thanks to the NYU Film School
for our tour and visit. Thank you for Jay Lee for inviting us to
exchange stories and experiences with your Bronx students-we ha
fun meeting everybody!
We will also be filming the trip for a segment we will feature on
the upcoming CYMC news and variety show to be aired this spring.

FESTIVAL INFORMATION
H2O Freshest Youth Program, co-sponsored by Listen-Up and The Point
CDC (www.h2oiff.org)
The H2O [Hip-Hop Odyssey] International Film Festival's Freshest
Youth Program is the worlds only youth produced, curated
and judged Hip-Hop Video/Film Festival.
The 7-day festival in New York City at The Bronx Museum of Arts
(BXMA) showcases a diversity of youth images, voices, and culture
from around the world. If accepted, thousands of youth in NY will
be watching your video.
H2O has collected a series of youth directed/produced film shorts
representing the many perspectives of the hip-hop community around
the united states/world.
Over 6 days of programming in November, the H2O Freshest Youth Program
will hold 18 screenings of solely youth produced works. During the
day, teachers bring their classes to the BXMA and after-school youth
go to The Point CDC to watch the festival.
*Screenings are organized into themesby the Youth Programming Board.
H2O Freshest Video Slamm!
H2O's Freshest Video Slamm!, brought to you by Listen-Up on November
6th, BXMA. On the last day of the festival, November 6th, Listen-Up
will produce the Freshest Video Slamm at the Bronx Museum. Just
like a poetry slam, this your opportunity to slam 5 minutes of your
video, whether it's a work in progress, or if your video didn't
get into the festival this year, bring it on!
H2O Freshest Youth Panel, November 6th 2004, BXMA
This panel of youth video-makers will showcase the 5 exceptional
youth video-maker's whose pieces made it into the 2004 festival.
H2O's Freshest EMcee Battle
Think you got what it takes to be H2O's Freshest Emcee? Then come
out to the Point CDC to battle it out to make it to round 2 at the
BXMA on November 6th.
H2O's Freshest EMcee Battle, brought to you by Urban Word, 1st round
November 5th, The Point CDC; 2nd round November 6th BXMA. To enter
